Dr. Arlene Clinkscale
Dr. Arelene W. Clinkscale's passion for education ignited early, nurtured in Richmond, Virginia, after her Brooklyn, New York birth. A trailblazer and role model in Rockland County, New York, Dr. Clinkscale broke barriers throughout her illustrious career. She was the first African American teacher hired in Pearl River, New York, the first African American woman principal in Rockland County, and later, the first African American woman superintendent of a public school district in the entire state of New York, serving as superintendent for Nyack Public Schools. Dr. Clinkscale's accomplishments stand as testaments to her dedication and unwavering commitment to education.
