About Epsilon Chi Chapter History
Upon consent from Juanita Randolph, Basileus of Theta Chapter, Drusilla Kinzonzi on April 26, 2004 met with two individuals to discuss the prospect of bringing the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. to the Lower Hudson Region. An interest survey was sent out and subsequent informational meetings were set up. Encouraged by the first three attendees, future meetings were scheduled.
Gwendolyn B. Watts, Eastern Region Member-At-Large, and members of Delta Pi Chapter conducted an orientation session on May 26, 2004 at the Finkelstein Library. Confirming that sufficient interest existed, Regional Director Charlotte M. Williams was notified, and in turn petitioned the National Executive Council. In the interim, additional qualified and interested candidates were recommended and invited to an October 9th meeting convened by Regional Director Charlotte M. Williams. Past Supreme Basileus Ardena Dixon, members of Gamma, Delta Pi chapters, and Theta, the sponsoring chapter, were in attendance with eleven interested educators. By March, 2005 twenty candidates began the application process.

At the June 2005 Anniversary Conclave, the National Executive Council, under the direction of then Supreme Basileus Margaret C. Nelson, voted unanimously to begin the process of induction
for the fifteen educators as Krinon Charter Pledgees. The induction ceremony for the Orange/Rockland Krinon Charter Club held on September 10, 2005 was performed by Eastern Regional Director Charlotte M. Williams in conjunction with Theta Chapter and was attended by more than forty sorors from local chapters in the tri-state area.
In an early morning ritualistic ceremony on November 19, 2005, the Orange/Rockland Krinon Charter Club became Epsilon Chi, the 137th link in the chain of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc.
